Introductory Neuroscience

Tutorial format

The tutorial is school-based and runs from 0915-1545.

The format is varied, with interactive lectures, an IT session and group discussions. Digital slides, DVD and multimedia will be employed in presenting material.

A digital slide show featuring state-of-the-art images is employed during the tutorial.

Each student will receive a comprehensive 30-page MBI neuroscience tutorial pack which complements the material presented during the tutorial.

Each school will receive an MBI neuroscience cd-rom which includes a .pdf version of the tutorial handout, various classroom exercises and links to more than 50 top neuroscience websites.


The multimedia cd-rom includes neuroscience image galleries, neuropsychological tests, visual illusions and  a section featuring animal brain comparisons.


MBI employs superb Adam Rouilly/Somso anatomical models and plastomounts to demonstrate neuroanatomical structures. In addition, with the agreement of the school headteacher, a sheep brain dissection can be requested.

Superb Rouilly models help students learn neuroanatomical structures. Tutor-led dissection of a preserved sheep brain is an optional tutorial feature.
