Aims of the tutorial?

There are three main aims to this genetics tutorial:

to provide the student with an overview of elementary and advanced genetic principles and to critically evaluate the contribution of modern genetics to medicine and society.

to explore the nature of the Human Genome Project, addressing practices such as DNA sequencing and gene mapping.

to consider the ethical, economic and social consequences of a genome directory. to explore contemporary issues in academic and clinical genetics, for example, behaviour genetics, cancer genetics, gene therapy, cloning and stem cell technology.
